Comparison

Custom city map posters: the main sites compared

There are three ways to get a poster of a city: order a shipped print, buy a file and print it yourself, or use a free generator. For each service, we read on its own site what it sells, at what price, with which map data and how fast.

This comparison is written by MaptoWall, one of the services compared. Prices observed on October 18, 2026, tax included, shipping excluded unless stated; several sites were running promotions that day. Every row links to its sources. How to choose

Print or file: A print usually arrives within 2 to 12 business days, going by the times the sites state; a file downloads at once and prints wherever you like, on the paper you like.
Size: 30 × 40 cm and A3 (29.7 × 42 cm) are the most common. For a file, check the resolution at print size: at 300 DPI the print stays sharp up close.
Map data: Most services start from OpenStreetMap, directly or through Mapbox, whose maps rely largely on OpenStreetMap: street accuracy depends mostly on its contributors.
Customisation: Pins, multiple maps, a photo, street names, shapes: each service has its own options, summed up above.
Total price: Add shipping and a frame for a print, printing for a file.

Frequently asked questions

Which site should I use for a custom city map poster?

It depends on what you want to receive. For a shipped print: Momenterie, CEWE, Revellia or Mapiful. For a file to print yourself: MaptoWall (€5), Revellia (€19), Craft & Oak ($25) or Positive Prints (€28). For free: PrintMap or prettymaps. Prices observed on October 18, 2026.

How much does a custom city map poster cost?

From the prices observed on October 18, 2026: €0 with a free generator, about €5 to €28 for a high-resolution file, and €19.95 to €44.99 for a print of about 30 × 40 cm, without frame or shipping depending on the site.

Can I download the file of my map poster?

Yes with MaptoWall, Revellia, Craft & Oak, Positive Prints, PrintMap and prettymaps. Mapiful says it does not provide files, we found no file offer at Momenterie or CEWE, and C'est Français only sells it with a print.

Where does the map data come from?

Most services use OpenStreetMap, the open collaborative map: directly (Mapiful, Positive Prints, Momenterie, MaptoWall, PrintMap, prettymaps) or through Mapbox, whose maps rely largely on OpenStreetMap (Craft & Oak, Revellia). Street accuracy therefore depends mostly on OpenStreetMap's contributors.

What happened to Grafomap?

On October 18, 2026, grafomap.com redirected to CanvasDiscount (Picanova), which sells city map posters.
